HOTTEST. DAY. EVER.
Every year, when summer is coming to a close and fall seems to creep its way in, we make our way out to farm country.
Whether it be apples or pumpkins, we take in the festivities of the season, pet the animals, take in a hayride or two and I usually come home with a handful of pictures worthy of a blog post.
This day, I swear was the antithesis of a regular October day. The weather clocked in at about 90 degrees, which is 25-30 degrees warmer than I would have liked, especially when there is little to no room for cover from the sun.
We sweat. We ate. We sweat a little more. We picked apples. Then more sweat. Then ice cream. Bypass the petting zoo. Make a beeline for the car and we're outta here!!
It was ridiculous how unseasonably warm it was. The orchard smelled like apple cider and half of the apples were picked and rotting on the ground.
It was a mess. A fun mess but a hot mess just the same.
I tried to keep my cool, literally. I have a habit of being a bit of a diva but only in situatuons involving heat. I despise being hot. I'd rather be cold and wet than hot hands down. But on this day, my cousin Stephanie was equally suffering and she called it quits before I did. Yay! Now, I didn't have to be the jerk - well, I'm still a jerk but I wasn't THE jerk, lol.
All in all, it was a good time, complaining aside. I'll just have to make a conscious effort to check the weather BEFORE we head out on our next great adventure.
